Asthma Medication

Most kids don’t take their asthma drugs as prescribed, according to a study that looked at 75 children for a month and was published in a recent issue of The Journal of Pediatrics. Parents should be supportive and know which medicine"s" their child needs to take and why. The report showed that mothers who were worried about giving medications to their children were less likely to encourage their children to incorporate medication into their day-to-day life. They found that families who maintained regular routines at home had children with better asthma control. Fewer of those children missed school or needed healthcare visits when their whole family reminded when to take asthma medications. Sometimes all it takes to make healthy choices part a daily routine is a simple change like keeping medicine next to the toothbrush.
