Wear a Hat
Melanoma is the most deadly skin cancer. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet
light from the sun causes skin cancer, and people with thinning hair should be
extra careful when outdoors. Try to avoid being out in the sun during mid-day
if you can, and wear a hat to protect the scalp from sun exposure. A
broad-brimmed hat is the best sun protection according to Dr. Daniel Berg,
director of dermatological surgery at University of Washington Medical Center.
If you do notice a new spot remember the A B C Ds to help with early
detection of cancer from the American Academy of Dermatology:
A Asymmetry - Is she spot the same
shape on both sides?
B Border irregularity – Does the edge
look rough?
C Color varied – Is it one color, and
what color is it?
D Diameter – Is it bigger than a pencil
eraser?
